This was my early morning run with my teammate and colleague Henk-Jan through the city of Paris. We covered a little over 7 kilometers, passing some major landmarks and running along the Seine river. A run in a different area or city is always enjoyable and a great way to start the day.

I’m hoping to do the same in the next two weeks while I travel to New York, Melbourne, and Sydney for business.

I completed another run in Italy today. This time, I went out for a 5-kilometer recovery run, which was tough after last night’s cheese and pizza. I covered the distance in 35:24, keeping an average pace of 7:03 per kilometer at temperatures already around 30 degrees at 8:30 in the morning.

What goes up must come down! During this 7-kilometer run, I climbed 281 meters in the first 3,5 kilometers and descended them again in the second half as our holiday home is down in the valley. This was a fun and good exercise for me to complete.

The view of the mountain was excellent, and you could see yourself.

Yesterday, we drove from the Marche to the Piemonte region for our last holiday week in Italy. It was a 500-kilometer drive to the north-west of the country.

Due to the increasing temperatures in the Marche, I didn’t run for the past 4 days. Temperatures far above 30 degrees Celsius and steep hills are not a good combination for this Dutchie who’s used to flat terrain.

The terrain is different in Piemonte compared to the Marche. Our holiday home is close to a small river in the valley between two hills. I went out for a short out-and-back of 4 kilometers early this morning to determine my running possibilities in this area.

Run Log 20250805

I completed a short and intense sprint recovery run today to compensate for yesterday’s food festivities and today’s lazy day on a sun bed. This 2.5-kilometer run included 8×20-second sprint intervals with 10 seconds of recovery. I ran on the trail path close to our holiday home in the shade in an area with as little elevation as possible.
