This is a fantastic website full of running statistics from Adrien Friggeri, who has been running every day for more than ten years in a row. I love how all the statistics have been brought together in different graphs and data points.

I didn’t start running until I was in my late twenties, and even so I would end up in a pattern where I’d get motivated and go on a couple of runs, take a few days off, go on another run the following week, and next thing you know it’s been a month since I last run. Rinse and repeat.

In July 2015, something changed. I headed out on a run on a Tuesday, then did another one the next day, and the day after, and… I took the Friday off. When I woke up on July 11, 2015 I remember thinking I could have done 4 days in a row, so I set out to try and do that. 4 days turned into a week, then a month, then two, then six, then a year, and here I am, ten years later.

↦ Finding a 27-year-old easter egg in the Power Mac G3 ROM

28 June 2025 ·

I love a nerdy project like this so much. 🤓

I was recently poking around inside the original Power Macintosh G3’s ROM and accidentally discovered an easter egg that nobody has documented until now.

This story starts with me on a lazy Sunday using Hex Fiend in conjunction with Eric Harmon’s Mac ROM template (ROM Fiend) to look through the resources stored in the Power Mac G3’s ROM. This ROM was used in the beige desktop, minitower, and all-in-one G3 models from 1997 through 1999.

Links worth reading #007

4 March 2025 ·

It’s been a while since I last posted a ‘Links worth reading’ here. Below are four websites I recently bookmarked. Enjoy looking at them.

  • I’m in the market for a new backpack/daypack for my 1-2 day travels within Europe. While searching for some reviews from other frequent travelers, I stumbled upon the Pack Hacker website. The guides and reviews are worth a visit if you are a bit of a travel nerd like me who is always searching for additional storage optimization.
  • The Blue Ghost Mission 1: Ghost Riders in the Sky album on Flickr has some very cool moon pictures and fly-by videos.
  • reMarkable Methods was introduced by reMarkable. If you own a reMarkable and use it daily for note-taking, I highly recommend the Meeting Minutes and the Daily to-dos templates. I started using both, and they have greatly increased my productivity compared to using the previous default medium grid notebooks.
  • Reinier Ladan’s blog pointed me to My Life in Weeks. Please have a look and think about how short our lives are.

Do you like the links I shared above? In that case, you might also like my previous links worth reading. They are here.

” But you don’t have to become a hermit and go offline permanently. Instead, you can use the internet in a way that is more compatible with the way our brains work. Find smaller communities around things you like and interests you have. Are you interested in board games? Retro computers? Knitting? Woodworking? Reading? You can start looking for blogs, online forums, small Mastodon instances etc. that center around the thing you’re interested in. Then follow these blogs, register specifically to those forums or smaller networks, and interact with the people there. It might take a while, but you can find like-minded people on the internet who share your interests and values, and you can build a community around that, engage with the people there and ignore the rest.

I’m pleased to be sharing Fluted Gradients, my first wallpaper pack of 2025.

I wanted a simple and minimal backdrop across my devices to start the year. While I firmly believe there’s no such thing as too many gradient wallpapers, this time around, I wanted to add a bit more texture to the design while at the same time not having it feel distracting or busy.

The design I settled on was a fluted or ribbed gradient look. After creating dozens of different gradients, I used a displacement filter to create the finished look on the files I liked most. I hope you enjoy this first batch of eight wallpapers for your Mac, iPad, and iPhone!
