I followed up with the advice from Willem this morning during the 30-minute recovery run I had planned for today.

Being patient with my running is challenging for me. I shared with Willem yesterday that I always want to feel a little exhausted after a run, and because of that, I almost always run too fast. Willem is right, though; I should train more in zones 2 and 3 to increase my pace over time. So that is what I did today, with 45% of my run being in Zone 2 and the remaining in Zone 3. My average heart rate was precisely 130 bpm.

I’ve decided to post on my blog in English and Dutch. While I tried switching to all Dutch on January 1st this year, I missed interacting with my English followers.

To make it easier for each target group of readers, I will tag my posts written ‘In Dutch‘ so that you can easily filter these posts.

” But you don’t have to become a hermit and go offline permanently. Instead, you can use the internet in a way that is more compatible with the way our brains work. Find smaller communities around things you like and interests you have. Are you interested in board games? Retro computers? Knitting? Woodworking? Reading? You can start looking for blogs, online forums, small Mastodon instances etc. that center around the thing you’re interested in. Then follow these blogs, register specifically to those forums or smaller networks, and interact with the people there. It might take a while, but you can find like-minded people on the internet who share your interests and values, and you can build a community around that, engage with the people there and ignore the rest.

Datum Duur Gem. Hartslag Afstand Tempo V02Max HRV RHR
20250119 30:13 170 bpm 5,25 km 5:45 44,2 65 ms 55 bpm
20250119 41:56 167 bpm 8,00 km 5:14 44,2 65 ms 55 bpm
20250119 1:12:09 168 bpm 13,25 km 5:30 44,2 65 ms 55 bpm
