This is a quick summary of last week. While a lot happened during my travel to India, there isn’t much else to share.
Enjoy reading, see you next week.
- I was in India last week for a work-related trip. It has been just over two years since I was in India, at the time still employed by my previous employer. I traveled from Amsterdam to Bombay on Monday and took a domestic flight to Hyderabad early Tuesday morning. Hyderabad is quite different from Bombay (where I’ve been multiple times); traveling to other states in India is akin to traveling to various countries in Europe. Everything is different, the language, the people, the scenery, and I presume the culture too. On Thursday, I took another domestic flight from Hyderabad to Chennai. Chennai and Hyderabad are only an hour’s flight apart, so it was easy to combine the travel with two full working days.
- What stands out in India the most is the people and the food. I’ve met many lovely colleagues in both our offices (we employ around 8,500 people in both cities) and enjoyed delicious food and company in the evenings.
- I returned home on Saturday morning on an 8.5-hour overnight flight back to Amsterdam. I find flying West always easier than flying East, so the jetlag is relatively easy to deal with. It was good to be back home just after breakfast, and after a quick shower, we did all the family stuff we usually do on Saturdays. My wife and I watched a rom-com in the evening that she chose: Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.
- On Sunday, I took both my kids to the IMAX cinema in Rotterdam to watch the latest Mission Impossible film.
- Tomorrow is a bank holiday in the Netherlands. We are going to a nearby lake with friends, we rented a boat to go out, and we will enjoy a good dinner in the evening at the lake. I’m looking forward to it.
