thingsThisWeek #022

1 June 2025 ·

Last week was an amazing week, one of those weeks when work and private life were balanced very well. This was partly due to a bank holiday on Thursday and partly due to how my schedule worked out this week.

Enjoy reading blog post number 22 in this thingsThisWeek series.

  • This week was a relatively short workweek for me as we had a bank holiday on Thursday, and my US colleagues had Memorial Day on Monday. The result was a relatively calm work week with less meeting pressure.
  • I presented a new product investment business case to our board last Friday afternoon with one of my team members. I enjoyed working on the final PowerPoint together. The presentation went very well; my fingers are crossed for the outcome, which I should receive in the next two weeks.
  • My wife left home on Wednesday night to sail in the north of the country for four days. Because of this, I had 4 days of one-on-one time with both of my kids.
  • I hosted a surprise BBQ for my parents on Saturday evening. It was fun, and the food was delicious.
  • I wrote a blog post about my first experiences with my new UniFi setup, and I asked a friend with a 3D printer to print me some wall mounts for my switches.
  • I went to Utrecht with my two kids on Sunday afternoon. We had lunch in the city and bought summer clothes for both of them. Once back home, I watched the finale of the Spanish Grand Prix. I didn’t like Max Verstappen’s (my favorite driver) behavior towards Russel, so I turned off the TV.
  • I packed my gear for next week’s travel to India right after today’s F1 race. I’m heading out to Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai this week to meet my colleagues in India for the first time since joining my company. The last time I was in India was in 2023, still for my previous employer. Next week will be a tough travel week (5 flights in 6 days) but also rewarding; I look forward to it.
