It’s been a hectic two weeks, and as a result, I’ve completely forgotten to post my ‘thingsThisWeek #025’ last Sunday. To make things easier for me, I’ve now combined my past two weekly reviews.
I wish you a good weekend ahead and hope you enjoy reading my updates.
- My wife was in Italy last week for six days. She was there to support friends who own the agriturismo, as they had a large group of people there for a wedding. She enjoyed herself there, and I enjoyed my time at home with our kids. We are all going together to the same place in Italy, 5 weeks from now.
- I’m slowly getting back into running now that my muscle injury is less painful and almost gone. I’ve bought myself a new pair of shoes and I’ve created a Strava account to capture my runs. I’ve been using the Nike Run app for years (I like their audio-guided coaching), but only recently noticed that it doesn’t have a data export function. It’s something I don’t like, so I asked Nike through a form on their website to send me my data based on my right to have access to my data (GDPR). I’ve received all the files and uploaded them to Strava in several batches.
- Work has been hectic during the last two weeks of June. As I work for an American stock-listed company, our fiscal year ends on June 30th, meaning there is always some last-minute sprinting to do to close out the year as well as possible. In parallel, I had to prepare for the kick-off of the next fiscal year, which we hosted from Warsaw this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Warsaw is a beautiful city that I had never been to before. Of course, I went out on an early morning run through the city.
- My kids are in their final two weeks of school, which means exams until next Wednesday. They are both tired from the past year and look forward to the summer holiday.
- My wife signed a contract for a new job starting September 1st. I’m happy for and proud of her.
- I’m planning my work trips for August, September, and October, as there is some significant long-haul travel on the horizon, which I need to prepare for content-wise.
- My team member in São Paulo returned to work after a period of paternity leave. I enjoyed welcoming him back to work and seeing his happy and tired face. It brought back memories of being a young father myself.
- I’ve been expanding my Unifi network at home with four access points. Setting them up was easy, but optimizing my wifi network to reach every corner of the house took me a few nights. This was a fun (and expensive) side project, which isn’t done yet, as I’d still like to position an access point in our garden and add two cameras and a doorbell to the setup.
