Just like last week’s thingThisWeek #024 this week’s update was delayed by one day and again written late Monday morning. The reason? A full packed and fun Sunday without me being able to sit down behind my computer or iPad. I consider this a positive thing. 😀
Enjoy reading my updates below. See you again next week.
- I traveled to Prague for work. It was my first time returning to the city in 25 years. Prague is beautiful both from the water and while running through it. I was in Prague to celebrate 20 years of ADP’s presence in the city with our leadership team.
- I continued to extend my Unifi network gear last week by adding two Unifi U7 Pro access points. Over the weekend, I tinkered with the hardware to optimize my Wi-Fi coverage around the house. I’m not there yet when it comes to good coverage in every room and might need to invest in one additional accesspoint. I also asked a friend with a 3D printer to print some bespoke Unifi mounting appliances for me, all in all a fun side project to work on.
- I enjoyed reading this post from Jan van den Berg (in Dutch) this week. I read a similar experience from Eric Walker a few weeks back. Like me, both switched to a desktop computer for their home needs, in both cases, a Mac Mini M4. Reading their blog posts about their first experiences was good fun, as theirs are very similar to mine. It’s wonderful to go back to a desktop computer that doesn’t follow you around the house and is out of standby when you touch a key on the keyboard.
- I’m slowly picking up my running again and completed three runs last week. I’m still nowhere near the distances or the pace I did before, but I’m happy that I’m at least running without significant leg pain. I trust things will improve from here, and I continuously remind myself that running is a sport you get better at as long as you are consistent.
- The weather was hot and humid over the weekend in the Netherlands, so we spent Sunday afternoon in a canoe on a small river 40 minutes from where I live. This activity is recommended for anyone living in this area of the country. It offers beautiful scenery and comfortable temperatures on a hot day.
