Here is my thingsThisWeek #016. It’s a short one, enjoy the read. Previous thingsThisWeek’s can be found here.
- This week was our family’s birthday week. My birthday was on Monday, and my son’s was last Friday. I didn’t celebrate my birthday, but my son did on Friday night with his friends. The weather was pretty good, so we hosted a BBQ for them.
- On Thursday afternoon, I went out for lunch with colleagues to say goodbye to one of my team members. He will be missed on the team, but as he’s pursuing an incredible product journey outside our company, I’m also happy for him. I bought him ‘Product is Hard,’ which I consider the bible of Product Management and a must-have for any leader in my profession.
- My running progressed well this week. I slowed down during my recovery runs and intensified my speed and interval training. On Monday night, I completed a 10k recovery with my friend Olof; it was the first time we ran together again after our Marathon experience last November.
- At work, things remain fun and busy. I’m going through the quarterly product reviews (QPRs) with each of my team members. For me, that is a trip around the world: APAC reviews early in the morning, EMEA reviews in the afternoon, and Latam reviews later in the day. Working across different time zones can sometimes be exhausting. Next to the QPRs, I also prepared for the business reviews I have planned for next week. Together with my US team, I will be visiting our in-country leadership teams in Italy (Milan), Germany (Bremen), and the UK (Bristol) next week.
- The Easter weekend has been great so far. We went for brunch with my in-laws, and my parents will join us for a simple but nice dinner tonight. As tomorrow is a bank holiday in the Netherlands, we are also preparing something nice for the four of us: brunch at the Beach.
