thingsThisWeek #012

23 March 2025 ·

It’s Sunday evening, and I still haven’t posted my thingsThisWeek for the past 7 days. The past week went by really fast due to a busy workweek, a busy and fun weekend, and preparations for yet another full-packed and fun week ahead.

Enjoy reading.

  • My wife joined me in Barcelona this week.  I took a few hours off on Wednesday afternoon to visit Casa Batllo. We’ve both been to Barcelona multiple times but never had the time to experience this Gaudí masterpiece.
  • I completed two of the five runs planned for this week before going to the office on Monday morning. I’ve been doing these early morning runs consecutively since the summer of last year, and I’m proud of myself for keeping up with the schedule during the dark winter months. Now that daylight again is at 07:00, early morning runs have become a lot easier.
  • Between Monday and Sunday, I completed all runs planned for this week. Yeah!
  • My workweek passed fast; this period of the year is all about budget meetings, which were planned back to back in my calendar from Wednesday onwards.
  • I bought myself a new private computer for my desktop at home. I went for a Mac Mini as I no longer need a laptop in my private life. Everything I do on a private machine is always behind my desk, and if I need some flexibility, I can always take my iPad.
  • This weekend, we had three parties: an ‘in memory of’ celebration for a friend who passed away four years ago, a 50th birthday dinner at this place in Arnhem, and a 17th birthday dinner for the youngest daughter of our closest friends. I enjoyed all three celebrations a lot.
  • I watched both the Formula 1 qualifying and the race in China early Saturday and Sunday morning. The race ended up full of surprises due to Ferrari’s disqualification. McLaren was fast again, and Norris will have to fight for the championship title with Piastri. Red Bull and Mercedes are very close together. Overall, 2025 looks to become a great season with the top 4 teams so close together.
