thingsThisWeek #009

2 March 2025 ·

This past week was our annual family ski holiday week. We enjoyed ourselves in the Austrian Alps in Ehrwald for the tenth year in a row. We didn’t do much besides skiing, après-skiing, dining, and laughing with friends.

This update is a little shorter than usual because of the holiday week.

  • From last Saturday until this Friday, we have been skiing and snowboarding in the Zugspitz Arena for seven days. My kids have been learning to ski on these slopes since the age of six, and seeing them ski as young teenagers 10 years later makes me very proud. They have become better skiers than their parents by now. I will post photos from our trip under the tag: Ehrwald.
  • Last week, my wife and I watched ‘La Maison’ on Apple TV+. We completed all episodes of the first season. La Maison is a drama series that gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at an iconic French haute couture house. When the family dynasty behind the house falls into scandal, they must find a way to reinvent themselves or be destroyed by their rivals.
  • According to meteorologists, Spring starts on March 1st. Spring is my favorite season of the year. I like the fresh colors of nature the most in this season compared to other seasons. Now that skiing is over for this year, it’s time to say goodbye to the winter season.
  • After a slow start this Sunday morning (nothing beats sleeping in your own bed), I picked up my running schedule again with a slow, 40-minute run on the track. To reach 40 minutes, I combined a 25-minute and 15-minute recovery run with 5 minutes of stretching in between the two runs.
  • From today on, I will pick up my running again towards a Half-Marathon distance. Given how fit I came out of the winter season, this shouldn’t be too hard to achieve.
