I had a fun week again. I was busy with work, as my international product leadership team was in the Netherlands, and with private matters, ensuring my friends and family got the attention they deserved.
Have fun reading this week’s ‘thingsThisWeek’.
- My leadership team came together for the first time since I formed my new team before Christmas last year. I hosted a three-day team offsite in our Dutch office (in Rotterdam). During these three days, we combined work and fun to understand each other better. My team educated each other on their different markets, clients, and cultural values. I still find it amazing to have the opportunity to lead such a diverse team with leaders from Brazil, China, the United States, France, England, and the Netherlands.
- On Wednesday afternoon, a guest speaker joined us for a team workshop on ’Storytelling for Product Managers.’ In my profession, storytelling is crucial to generating followers and momentum inside the company and with our clients. Thursday morning was all about Product Marketing, again with the help of a guest speaker. This guest speaker shared a reading tip: Obv!ously Awesome by April Dunford.
- Due to the tight work schedule, I had to reduce my running a bit this week from 5 to 4 runs. I also reduced the overall distance run slightly compared to last week. In the end, there is only so much you can do. I completed two runs on Monday and Wednesday mornings and added another two over the weekend, so this week’s total is one run short compared to last week.
- Last Sunday, my daughter’s field hockey team became the indoor winter champion in their league, and yesterday afternoon, my son’s team also became champion in their league. It was fun to watch both matches this week and see the kids’ pride and joy.
- On Saturday evening, my wife and I had dinner with friends at their place. We hadn’t seen each other for a few months, and it was great catching up with them. Our friends prepared us a full table of homemade Greek food, which was delicious.
- Sunday (today) is all about chores in and around the house, including preparing for our annual family ski trip, which starts next Saturday. We are going to Austria again, like every year.
